Have bypassed the VATS, engine turns over and starts drove one block and turn off switch, came out of the Post Office and no start, vette turns over but does not fire. Other than the by pass, where else might I look. When I turn on the key, everything lights up, engine turns over but no starts. There are no indications of codes showing up, nor anythings shows on the display panel. Help:confused:confused

I had somewhat similar problem only mine wouldn't turn over. It was intermittant which drove me crazy until I finally replaced the starter and everything has been fine since.

There are several potential problem you could have. I did replace the starter enable relay which is behind the middle a/c vents when I was diagnosing my start problem. Could be a loose ground. Or you could have a fuel pump problem.

I'm sure someone else will chime in with more experience than me so hopefully you can get your problem solved.

Good luck.

Baldie88, thanks for the reply, my 1987 Vette would turn over but wouldn't fire. The starter was replaced several months ago and I have had the VATS bypassed, butnow I find that the resisters that were in place, broke down and failed. While I was writing this reply to your message, the mechanic called and infomed me of the breakdown in the resisters. The VATS bypass was made up of two resisters representing the proper oms, but apparently one failed. I am good to go now.

Good to hear you got going again. I have also bypass my VATS but fortunately no problems yet.

Happy Vetting!

It is my understanding that if your VATS system wasn't working properly you shouldn't be able to turn over the starter. The VATS system has a relay that needs to be engaged first or no power is sent to the starter relay. Unless I'm misunderstanding something here, I still think you have an intermittent starting issue.
