1988 35th ANNIV,1971 BRIDGEHAMPTON BLUE BB COUPE
Hi!! i have a 1988 35th anniv with only 22k miles on it. Was out the other day for a little joy ride and i think i blew the tranny. All of a sudden a heard a thump and it started slipping like crazy. anybody have a rough idea what a rebuild runs on these things?? My cherry red fluid has a lovely shade of brown in it now. Just looking for a ballpark figure. Im bringing it in to a shop next week.Im in the beautiful state of NJ so that always helps to increase costs!!!Happy New year everyone!!! CORVETTES FOREVER!! SO WHAT IF MY CAR CANT MOVE NOW. iT STILL LOOKS DAMN GOOD!!

I hate that when that happens

( read my Tranny horror stories posts )

Minimum 1500 to MAX 2450 for a totally trick one.

I have friends who have had good luck with Raptors.
I'll bet most people here will say to rebuild yours
( keepin it stock, matching numbers )

Do a BBB search or Auto club approved repair shops
in your area.

Try to find an Independant "transmission only" repair shop where you actually talk to the owner.

Another option is a GM Goodwrench re-man at the dealer.
Be sure the dealer has one or more good Vette techs.

Hi there,
I totally agree with the GM remanufactured unit, as they carry a 3yr.50k warranty, against any problems, leaks, or whatever.
That warranty is good at any GM dealership.
I would say that your input drum clutch assembly probably let go.
It was updated, and you will get all current updates in a GM goodwrench remanufactured unit.
DO NOT GO WITH AN ACDELCO, AS THEY ARE NOT AS GOOD.

THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE INFO. LOOKS LIKE THE TRANS WAS PRETTY MUCH TOAST. I WAS GOING TO HAVE IT REBUILT WITH AC/DELCO JUNK BUT THEN TOOK YOUR ADVICE AND THE DEALER TO GO ALONG WITH THE GM/GOODWRENCH UNIT. COSTS LESS AND IS MUCH MORE RELIABLE. THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR INPUT!!! THE DEALER IM USING HAS TWO EXCELLENT VETTE TECHS AND TRANS SPECIALISTS. LOOKS LIKE I LUCKED OUT FOR A CHANGE!!
