Hi Everyone,

I'm back. You have helped me with various problems...I have another.

My wipers no longer work. The other day I turned them on and the wiper blades came out, stopped half way up the window, creeped a little more, then I turned them off and they returned to the parked position.

Now they do not move at all. I hear no sound of any type and when I depress the wiper button for mist, no water sprays from the wipers (I just replaced that motor and it was working fine).

According to the Chilton manual, the fuse is shared with the radio (?) and the radio works.

The motor is $154 from Eckler's.

Any ideas? What is the best way to check the motor?

BTW: Does Rainx really work? Can you actually drive in the rain until the proble is corrected?

Thanks,

J

Update:

I checked the fuse. It was good but had a small amount of corrosion on one terminal. I cleaned it and the wipers work.

I use rain-x on my truck all the time, and I rarely have to use the wipers unless it is pouring out. Although, the rain will only roll of the windshield at speed, below 40 mph or so and you will have the beads on the windshield. The faster you go, the more they roll off.

Had the same problem with my 84. After a motor change still nothing....turned out to be the switch in the door. Guess I should've checked that first huh?

May not be the same problem but thought I'd throw it out anyways.

I just fixed a problem like that on my 88 it turned out to be the Park Switch directly behind the black cover in the gear mech. of the motor. Got the part from GM and it fixed the problem. I replaced the Sw. in the door first to no avail.

Thanks for all of the replies. I checked the fuse just in hopes of an easy fix. I did not really think that would be the problem as the wipers parked after I turned them off. After finding that the problem was corrosion on the fuse, I reviewed the schematics again and I see why they parked.

I may buy some Rainx just in case.:D
