I recently purchased a yellow 1990 coupe with virtualy every option except the ZR-1. When I bought it, it had no third or fourth gear in the 700R4 automatic. I have a friend that has a shop, so I put it on the hoist and pulled out the trans. One thing I noticed, was the car has only one cataytic convertor. My friend also told me the car has about a 4.10 rear end. I later found out that there was an option package in 1990 that if ordered, you got a 4.07 rear end, a less restrictive exhaust and 250 hp instead of 245. I assume that this car has this, but can't find it listed as an option on any lists. I would be curious to find out how many cars were so equipped. Also on the hood, right above the "gills" are some small chrome Corvette emblems. I've not seen another car with these. Are these indicative of this option? If anyone out there has any information, I'd like to know. Thanks, Bruce.

245 hp was in the convertible 250 hp was in the coupe.I never have figured out why there is a diff. Unless the mufflers are diff on the convertible for less noise.;shrug

I believe that is the difference. On the convertibles only one of the two outlets on each muffler is functional.

Whomever told you there was an optional, 4.07 axle ratio is feeding you B.S. There was no such option in 1990 or any other C4 model year. Automatics were either 3.07 or 2.59. Some convertibles had 2.73.

As for the chrome hood emblems, there were no such insignia on a 90. As for the single cat, that's correct for that model year. Some 90s sold in California may have also had two additional "pup" cats, one per side, up closer to the engine.

Hmm that explains why when I replaced both mufflers last year with "standard" NAPA units the exhaust sounded "nicer". lol
