I need some help please! The high brake light on my 1990 Coupe Corvette does not light. There is power there but not enough to make it light up. Where does this wire run and can there be a connector along the way that I could check for. Any advise would be appreciated! Thanks, JIm

"but not enough to light up the light"?

A corroded connection at the ground link could make you think there's not enough power there...

You need a multimeter. Not a Mickey Mouse mm, like mine, but a good one. As does EVERY vette owner (and everyone in this world with electronic stuff and a body temperature that's above room temperature).

Put your multimeter on the voltage feed, and check current. If the current is correct, then you know the connector to the light is bad, OR, the bulb is not seated well or is corroded in the socket (very likely), OR, the ground connection is faulty or the wire is chafed.

If the current is wrong, sell the car. :L

C4 third brake light does not work

Hi! Just bought my first Corvette... a 1990 convertible... I love it! It's got a couple of minor issues which will be fun to try figure out, and by the looks of things I'll be able to get most of my answers here!!! :) I realize that this is an old post, but hopefully this helps someone with a similar issue...

My third / high brake light was not working either, I swapped out the bulb, checked the voltage (11.4V), cleaned out the socket, still nothing... ordered a new brake light switch from eBay and voila! Works great now...

Welcome onto the boards there!

Brake light

You can unscrew the halo trim that is right over and directly behind your head, only a few screws, and you get access to the wiring to the light, it's very easy. I have replaced mine and have one if yours is a outside high mount light.
