With the GM1 rear axle ratio , what does the stock housing allow as an upgrade ? Wanted to lower the ratio from the stock 2.59 to at least the 3.07 ratio . is this possible ?

Many vendors offer either exchange rear axle assys or rebuild service with a ratio change.

Unless you're building a drag racing car with sticky rear tires and various driveline mods to match, I would not go lower than 3.07. Also, if you go lower, you take a noticeable gas mileage hit.

3.07 is all I want . and should be more than enough to wake up the car off the line for my needs .the car is great from 40mph on as I am sure you all know ! I mean by today's standards its not super fast but it is a very respectable performer ! My last rum down the track got me a 13.9 . do we have any links for a rebuild service ? Or exchange service you can share ? Thanks guys

Good choice.

CAC sponsor Zip Products offers an in-house drive axle rebuild and gear change service. Click here for more info on that.

If I had a D36 rear end and wanted 3.07s, that's the way I'd go. It's the best value other than doing the rear end yourself.

Scored a used Dana 36 rear differential on eBay with 3.07 gears !! Looks in real good shape and is complete ready to install !! $275 shipped right to my door !! Can't wait !!

On a 1993 automatic corvette doing this swap does the chip have to be programmed for the gear change ?
