After searching the site for quite some time I can't find anything concerning this problem on a '92 with climate control. Plenty of us have had our blower motor continue to run with the ignition off, but posting a new thread is my only option. I've repaired many problems from members past experiences. I like the idea of a $10.00 blower relay, but I also read about a $160.00 control module. My manual shows a relay in the one-lines, but shows a different car in the (very small) photo. The blower has only one connection (purple/black wires) on the front. There is a large relay looking device mounted to the passenger side of the overflow reservoir, whereas the manual shows a similar piece mounted at the front. That's all I can find related to the blower motor. So if anybody can describe where it i$, and what it i$, I would really appreciate it.

All the best,

On the automatic climate control cars on top of the evaporator housing are two electrical connectors. Unplug them and remove the small bolts which hold the Blower control module in place. Once the bolts are removed, the Blower control module can be pulled out.
The circuitry is mounted on a very large heat sink.

There is also a 5 amp fuse, not sure of the location on a 92. Look for a 5 amp fuse labeled AC MDL in the fuse block on the passenger side/end of the dash. Make sure that fuse is not blown.

If you don't find/have that fuse, undo the bolts holding the black plastic radiator fill tank and move it out of the way. Look at the firewall and see if you have a black plastic housing that looks like a relay with a two wire connector going to it. Inside that housing is a 5 amp fuse.

I've seen used Blower modules go for $20.00 on E-bay. New ones are around $160.00. You could also call some Corvette salvage yards. Some people say that module is used by quite a few GM cars.

I ran across the 5-amp fuse and the connections you describe. The fuse is good, so I'll pull the module. I disregarded both since they weren't on the one-lines. My Haynes manual is going to a Miami landfill today. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks.

Well I pulled the module and started trying to track one down. There's one on ebay that is described as "88-96", but the part numbers are slightly different, as well as different heat sink configurations. Mine is larger with more dissipation vanes. The modules without heat sink look the same. Anybody know what the differences were in those model years, and whether a 1988 module performs the same functions as a 1992?

Call Jason at Vette2Vette. 1-815-673-6200. He may have a used one for a very good price that is model specific for you.

I looked at The Last Detail's web site and they say 86-89 use the same Blower control module. I would have thought 84-89 since they use the same control head.

In 90 they changed the control head. The 90-96 look like the same AC/Heater control head except for the face plate colors.

My guess is 90-96 Blower control modules are the same.

You could call a salvage yard as suggested or call the dealer and ask the parts guys if they carry it and what other year Vettes used it.

I don't know if this will help you but if you want I can e-mail you a picture of one from a 90. Just PM me your e-mail address where to send the pic.

Jason had one for $25.00. WhooHooooo! Thanks for your assistance guys. Another CAC success.

Did the part solve your problem. I am troubleshooting the same or similiar problem. I couldnt get the fan to stop running then I couldnt get it to go. I installed a new climate control head....that did not work then I did some more checking and think the blower control module was the original problem. Who sells the Control Modules besides V2V?

What if any differences are there with blower control modules, I found one on ebay for a buick. Did GM make any changes during the corvette years?

AC Module

It fixed our problem. There was a configuration difference in the cooling fins, but the unit fit and bolted right in. I would think that GM would make this part pretty similar among vehicles, but I don't know.

Sorry I hit post too quickly. I didn't find the module until I contacted V2V. Since then I have run across a ton of used parts locater service, some of which are valid and useful. If you throw used corvette parts and or used chevrolet, or used GM parts into your search engine you should get a large return of sources.

My only problem buying a used part is getting it and it does not work. I can get one at the dealer, yes it will cost more, but at least I could return it. If I pay for one and find it is bad, I am out the amount I paid plus the amount to buy another... If the part were free then that is a different matter. I have searched the local junkyards but have not found a module in any of the cars there.

A possible warning. I have often seen signs in auto parts and dealer parts sales establishments that announce no returns on electrical parts. Be careful to make sure that it can be returned. Buying a new one would have you out a considerable sum (at least in my case).

I wound up getting a blower control module from Tabor Corvette parts in Southern Indiana. They are charging $55 plus 6 for shipping and guarantee they work or you can return. If you are wondering the GM part number that the dealer gave me was 12484912 which is in stock at virtually every Cadillac dealer for $160-200 depending on the amount of markup.
