I cannot get the PKE light to illuminate at all! I have checked the bulb by switching it with other bulbs and it lights up. I took the dash/console apart and unscrewed the DIC unit from the dash but left the wiring harness connected to it. Looking at the plastic curcuit board, I traced the wiring harness to where it plugs into the DIC unit itseft. Then followed the curcuituy to the "PKE" light bulb. There are 2 wires that go to the bulb that light up the "PKE" indicator in the DIC. One is a solid orange and another is a little smaller orange wire with a thin black stripe. Using a test light I checked to see if there was any power going the copper contact where the light bulb twist in to the DIC. The larger orange wire has power going to it, with the ignition on, and lights up the test light. However, if I take the test light and touch the copper contact of the smaller orange wire with the black stripe the "PKE" light bulb lights UP. Then I did a reverse test light test. I took the gator clamp of the test light and clamped onto a positive wire and then touched the copper contact of small orange/black stripe wire with the test light point, NO POWER.
Now when I bought this car it did not have the remotes with it. I did buy a brand new remote. I have checked the fuses with a test light, they all appear to good, batteries are new, I've tried every instruction provide as to how to program your remote. I've disconnected the car battery and reconnected. I've pulled fuses. I CAN make the alarm go off by leaving the window down and reaching in and manually unlocking the drivers door. I wonder if the system was turn off with the original remote and if so, how do you turn it back on without the original remote? Also does this system have any relays that can malfunction?
Can someone shed a little "light" on this concern and help resolve the problem?
Thanks
