I recently purchased a 1998 corvette a couple of months ago that I am extremely proud of. It is my dream car. Within this last week though, every-once-in-a-while it will say serv. tire. mon. sens. or serv. traction control. When I get out and start it again, it doesn't say it. Then after a couple of days, it will say one or the other again. Could this be an electrical malfuntion, or do I really need to take it in to get serviced. I don't want to take it in if I don't have to, because the chevy houses around here really try to rake you over the coals, and I am worried that they will tell me they need to fix a problem that isn't even there. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

HI there,
If you do a search, you will find the instructions to retreive codes for your RFA, which is your tire pressure system, and TCS which is your antilock brakes and traction control system.
Please post your codes and we can assist in the diagnosis of your vehicle.

Got those same messages on my 98.

Took it to the dealer several times to have them "Clear" the codes from the memory. Was never anything wrong with the car.

When I purchased my 97 both my tire moniter and TCS where giving warnings across my dash. In my case, my TPM took too long to transmit, thus needing replace. This made my warning light go on about 3 - 5 minutes once I begin driving. You can select the reading on your dash and watch how long it takes to respond. New ones respond quickly, older ones respond slower. In my case on the TCS, both my TCS and ABS warning light would come on everytime I hit a bump in the road. This was caused by a loose fitting connector behind one of my wheels. Both problems seem to be very common with the earlier C%'s. In either case, your codes will help determine which wheel you are having problems. You can get instructions on how to read your codes off of the internet, it is easy to do. I hope this has helped....

your advice has helped. I will look up the codes and see if I can find out the problem. Thanks.
