1969 R.Gold CV. Original 8K miles. Pilot 1970 LT1
Hi
I own the first LT1 pilot car. The built date is Oct 23,1969. The last 5 digits of the VIN number are #00006. The car is Ontario Orange(991), deluxe black leather interior, power brakes, power windows, arlam system, am/fm radio. the car was supposely bought from DeNooyer Chevrolet in Kalamazoo, MI around mid to lat 1970s. A airccraft mechanic owned the car and did some minor custom work to the car. Believe that he may have raced it at Martin Speedway Drag Strip. Also the individual was employ at DeNooyer Chevy in the early 70s and was a member of the Kalamazoo Corvette Club. I am trying to fine out more details about the car and it's history. I would appreciate anyones help to document information on this great piece of Corvette history. If you know anything about this car please contact me @ 407 920 2931 or jordanlash@aol.com.

Thanks
Barry

I didn't notice in the post if your 0006 car is a coupe or roadster. Are there any unusual things about your car being so early? Early and late cars are always interesting.

Hi Tim

Not really. Other than it is know fact that it is a pilot car. I really have not got into the car yet. I plan to have it at the NCRS Winter Regional Meet in Kissimmee, Florida. I will probably gather some interesting information then.

8kgold69,
Please post some pictures when you get a chance. Does your car have the LT-1 decals on the hood? How many miles? Just curious....thanks.

Hi JJS

The cars' current mileage is 9751 miles. It sat in a barn for 27 years. The last time it was registered was in 1977. The first owner purchased the car from DeNooyer Chevy with 1200 miles. He was a aircraft mechanic and liked racing. He did do some customing to the car as did a lot of people in the earlier 70s. He put a different hood on the car so he could elimate the vacumm wiper door mechanism, thus doing away the vacumm system so the carb would not lose vacumn. It has the M21 transmission, AP=4.11:1 rear end, TI ignition system, 1111491 TI distributor, 6500 Tach, etc. I have not study the car in depth because of the Holidays and short on time. I plan to have it at the Winter Regional Meet in Kissimmee, FL.

8kgold69,
Sounds like a very unique, and quite possibly, a highly desired collectable you have there!

It's a coupe with 37 in the ID number. Those are great shots and super informaiton. Thanks for posting.

more info on the LT1

The gentleman that owned this car worked at DeNooyer Chevrolet in the early 70s, he worked in the parts department. He did some auto cross racing with the car. He was also a member of the Kalamazoo Corvette Club. I was told the car at one time was stored in a barn in Schoolcraft, MI when the storms hit some time in 1999-2000. His last name I was told is Coe. If anyone has further info please contact me. I would really like to learn some more history about this unique automobile.

Thanks
Barry
