What a pain in the A$$

Someone please tell me that I can buy a MIL eliminator or unplug the connector somewhere without throwing a code

I know its there for a reason, but i'm tires of lugging into 4th from a slow roll or grinding gears when i try to manually shift into 2nd while the solenoid wants to shift into 4th

Any advice??

Thanks

Ray

These are commonly available from places like Ecklers, MidAmerica, etc. The only real reason for it is fuel economy ratings and CAFE.

Or he could have it eliminated thru the chip.

Ray, there are three ways to defeat the "1-4 upshift"

1. The plugs Surf showed the link for plug the harness once you unplug the (1-4) harness - about a 5 minute job at best ;)

2. Send your chip back to Callaway Cars and have the latest programming added - they should also be able to eliminate the 1-4 through the chip :cool

3. Put your foot in it all the time, so it does not engage the 1 - 4 upshift :upthumbs

I hope this helps :m :v

When I bought my C4 I had heard so many bad things about the 1-4 skip shift that I already had a CAGS defeat device on order. However, within a day of driving my new LT4 my right foot had figured out its own CAGS defeat system (see solution 3 above!). Now it never occurs to me to try to shift out of first below about 20mph (although I shift by sound, not by speedo or tach). Driven this way the Green Monster sounds better and drives better, while my electronic CAGS-killer is still rolling around unused in my center console.

CAGS Eliminator In & Working

Ordered from Mid America

In my mailbox in 3 days

Jacked up the front of the car and slid underneath to find the infamous CAGS soleniod

Found the connection right about where the diagram showed it to be, only problem was the CAGS connection was above the CAT Convertor and the pig-tail was not long enough to pull both ends of the connection down low enough to plug in the caps, plus the gap between the CAT and the tranny was so tight that i could not get my hand up there to un-snap the connector....Grrrrrrrrr

And there was no way in hell that i was going to drop the exhaust so it was back to the tool box

5 minutes my A$$.....lol

I had to use my 12 inch needlenose pliers and a standard screwdriver to unsnap the connector from the solenoid, and then carefully line up and re-snap the protective caps in place

Bottom line thou is that it WORKS GREAT

Well worth the mechanical gymnastics in order to get it hooked up

Ray, you are getting a workout between the hood falling on you and the undercar gymnastics :eek

Sorry about the 5 minute quote - I have spent a bit of time under my Vettes over the years so it gets pretty routine for me...

Enjoy :m :v
