Hello,

Wondering if someone would know if this is the problem that I am having. This is a 2001 corvette with std tranny, it starts and runs fine but as soon as I let out the clutch it shut down. Would anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it?

This is related to column lock issues. I assume you have not bypassed that system yet. If not, I suggest the LMC5 unit. PM me with your phone number and I can explain better.

PS: The factory recalls on this DO NOT WORK. In 2001 GM did redesign the system but only for automatics.

First off, Welcome to CAC, sandrajo! :w The fuel cutoff could possibly be related to column lock issue. However our resident C5 expert, C4C5specialist, gave a talk at one off our Cruisefests explaining the problem in detail and how to fix it. You can go here to watch the video I took of the seminar. Not professional at all, but it gets the job done. :D

If this is Column Lock related, it might be just an issue with your battery. Paul (C4C5specialist) warns very strongly against using those aftermarket column lock bypass devices.

Make sure you watch both videos.

Well aware of the video and do not dismiss the information. I still wanted to install the LMC5 since it allowed me to disconnect the CL relay which has caused related problems by failing. He has a 2001 like me so he has this relay. Eliminating a government required subsystem to the car was fine with me. The C5 has too much unnecessary crap in it already.

PS: He may want to disconnect the battery, make sure he has at least 12.5 volts (charge if necessary) and then reconnect. Sometimes this can reset the 2MPH shutoff related to CL issues.
