The antenna will not fully retract on my 2000 vert. It will go up all the way, but only goes down about 1/2. I can push it the rest of the way with relative ease. I tired the fix shown in 2000: Service Bulletin: Power Antenna Not Working Properly or is Completely Inoperative. I replaced the )-ring Assembly/Cap Nut as suggested, but that did not cure the problem. The owner's manual indicates there is a kit that may cure the problem. Has anyone experienced this problem and what did you do to fix it?

Marathon,
My Z06 does not come with a power antenna (Chevrolet scrapped it for weight savings on the car.) However, I had to recently replace the entire power antenna assembly on my '96 Eldorado. It had stopped working, up or down, altogether. In the case of the Eldorado, the cause was simply lack of maintenance over time, and there was nothing to do but replace. I hope you are successful determining another course of action, and don't have to replace it- it cost me $280.00 for parts and labor.

Thanks for the quick response. Hoping to find a way to avoid the replacement option. $280 would really hurt right now.

Marathon, I did a quick search on power antennas and did not find any discussions of C5's with an antenna that does not fully retract upon shut down. The fact that you can still manually lower the antenna would seem to indicate that there are no obstructions in the path, so I'm all out of ideas about what could be the problem.

If the problem persists, and it sounds like your 2000 is probably out of warrantee, you might consider a PM to C4C5Specialist to ask his advice on what could be the problem.

C4C5 says probably a replacement is in order. Thanks for the search to see if anyone else was having this problem.
