2002 convertible raw fuel smell

Sure hope someone can help me with this. I have 2002. When stopped at a engine running there is a strong raw fuel smell. If the vent fan is running it can get worse. The other day when parked in a parking stall and backing out the smell get really bad.

If you have the top up and are at a stop light with the vent fans running it can get really bad.

took the car to a dealer they spend all day with it and can't find anything. The claim there is no fuel pressure drop, no leaks but that dam smell sure is there.

Any suggestion would be great.

Is there any possibility that it could be coming from the gas tank filler area and getting into the interior under the carpet?

Check the fuel evaporative hose for being disconnected on the drivers side of the engine under the fuel rail cover.

Thanks for the advise. I'm not a mechanic but willing to try what I can. Could you please give me some direction on exacty where that hose is.

Lift off the drivers side "CORVETTE" cover and look to see if anything is NOT CONNECTED.

Well this morning I took off both Corvette covers and looked around as best I could. There does not seem to be anything disconnected. I found a braided hose which I assume is what you talking about but that was attached and had the holding clips in place.

Any other suggestions would be very much appreaciated.

HI there,
That is your fuel line.
Below that is a green cap attached to a black corrugated plastic hose.
Make sure that it is connected on both ends and the green cap is hand tight.

OK sorry for the delay I just now got a chance to take a look at what you suggest. I found the line and it appear to be completly intact. the green cap is finger tight and all the connections appear to be on. They look like there slide on's with a retaining clip.

Anyways all look ok with that. What is the line for?

I was driving the car the other day and notice even when driving when the fan is running either AC or heat the smell is stronger. Can you tell me where to look for where the fan get it's air supply from?
