After a drive I have noticed windshield wiper fluid dripping from the nozzle of the windshield wiper.

I have also noticed the windshield wiper reservoir in the engine department is very hot to the touch after a drive.

In fact the other day after a drive it was dripping from the windshield wiper nozzle and I opened up the reservoir cap and the dripping stopped. This suggests that the reservoir may be under pressure after a drive due to heat build up??

Has anyone else noticed the phenomenon......

Mine flows out when I do a jack rabbit start. lid leaks?

The leak I am talking about is at the windshield wiper fluid orifice. The lid leak I solved by cutting out a circle of closed cell foam about 2-3mm thick and adhering it to the resevoir cap.

Hi Dave -

The C5 has a known issue that will allow washer fluid to escape on hard acceleration.

I see it from time to time - but I just let the washer fluid level stay low and it doesn't seem to happen anymore.

My vehicle will drip after a ride form the windshield wiper orifice. This I believe is different than the C5 known issue your describing on hard acceleration. In the past it seemed like the lead would occur during hard acceleration, but the other day I noticed the dripping on both winshield wipers as the vehicle sat on the driveway.

Therefore, I am not convinced that the previous drips noticed happen due to hard acceleration but pressue build up due to heat of the wiper resevoir....

Hi Dave -

That's a new one by me.

You can test your heat-related pressure build-up theory by removing the cap from the reservior and allowing it to breathe - if your drip stops you have found the problem.

Interesting. Winshield Wiper Incontinence.

I hope you get it figured out!

The day it was dripping while parked on the driveway after a ride, I unsnapped the resevoir cap and the drip from both wiper orifices stopped.

This unfortunately doesn't solve the problem as I don't plan to execute this fix while driving or after every outing....

I read about others having the problem and they have been installing a Ford chec-valve. My vehicle is still under warranty and would like a Chevy part plus I am tired of fixing all of GM's oversights myself....

I would think Chevrolet would have a known solution and corrective action for this issue!!!

Does anyone know of one....

I am sure we have a lot of GM engineers viewing this website...

Hi Dave -

Although there is something that is unusual about your car that is precipitating (no pun intended) this, the simple fix would be to vent the reservoir.

There may be a factory "vent" that is clogged or something like that -

good luck!
