2004 Corvette - Door Chime - Ignition Problem

I am trying to troubleshoot a problem with 2004 corvette. The drivers door chimes when open(no key in the ignition), but when the key is in the ignition it will not turn over or turn at all,

I am assuming that the battery is ok?
You haven't left the lights on?
i'm sure you have checked all this but just want to be certain.
Also have you been able to check for any codes? You will need a code reader for this of course.
