Hello. I have ordered a 2004 Z06. I currently autocross my 1994 Z07 Coupe. I have set my alignment for autocrossing as follows: Front Camber -1.0, Caster 7.3, & Toe at 0. Rear Camber is -1.0, and Toe is 1/16 IN.

Please tell me what the factory alignment settings are for the 2004 Z06 and what do you recommend for the best autocross alignment settings.

Also, I would like to install the GM factory 12 Disc CD changer in my new 2004 Z06. Is the existing wiring harness already in the Z06, or do I need to purchase the GM wire harness kit?? Is the factory radio already setup to work with the CD changer once I get the wiring harness installed? Is this a rather simple installation, or should I just forget about installing the GM factory 12 Disc CD changer in my 2004 Z06?

Thank you very much for all of your help.

Mike

I don't mind. I am new to this site. I am still trying to figure out how to reply to posts & emails.

Thanks.

Interestingly, I had a similar conversation with Mike Neal, Corvette's Ride and Handling Lead Engineer, this week.

For a start-point, I'd set a degree negative camber all the way around. Set front caster to as much as you can get with that camber setting. Set toe at 0.1 deg at each wheel.

Then, I'd go test, looking at tire temps with a pyrometer or a Raytek and watching lap times then adjust from there.

For hard core autoX you might want zero or even a little toe out in the front, but on the street that will really make the car wander.

Also with Z06s, you can lower 1/2 inch at each corner. If you don't have to drive the car on bad roads you can go 3/4-in. but then you need to trim about 1/4-in. off each bump stop.

Hib,

Thank you very much for your suggestions. What are the factory alignment settings for the 2004 Z06?

Hib, do you have any info on installing the GM OEM 12 Disc CD changer to the 2004 Z06? Will the in dash CD player still work?

Thank you,

Mike

Mike, when you take delivery of your car it will come with a video. In that video they talk about camber settings and lowering your car. They do this in reference to street use and racing. A good portion of that video talks about how to race your ZO6 and Camber settings are definitely discussed. How's that for a car.....they provide you with a video telling you how to race it.....I love it!!!!! BTW, I autocross with the factory settings. But I am not all that serious. Good luck. You will love the car.

FLYNLO,

Thanks. The video sounds really cool!! Although, I thought that i read somewhere that the 2004 Z06 was not going to have the video inlcluded. Maybe they switched to DVD??

If my 2004 Z06 does NOT come with the video, does anyone know where I can get a copy of the 2003 Z06 video???

Thanks,
Mike
