NHTSA said the power steering hose, under extreme steering maneuvers, may break and leak fluid. This could result in increased braking effort and also, if the power steering fluid spray were to spray onto hot engine parts, an engine compartment fire could occur.
Vehicles affected by the recall include the Chevrolet Corvette sports car, Buick Rainer, Cadillac Escalade, Tahoe, Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Yukon, Hummer H2 and Isuzu Ascender SUVs, Chevrolet Express and Savana vans, Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks. All the vehicles are from the 2006 model year, NHTSA said. The Corvette, Silverado and Sierra models from the 2005 model year are also being recalled.
