Now this ... THIS ... is the kind of red meat we've all been waiting for.

Enough talk about styling. When you look at engineering in the league of this all-new engine, your attention is quickly focused on the obvious advancements as well as the more subtle gizmoids and gadgetrons that will be sure to delight performance enthusiasts for many years to come.

I sense a lot more horsepower potential coupled with decent fuel economy.

I agree. The other issue is that the Corvette community can be very fickle. They want everything offered to them at once and they don't realize the time, energy and especially the money it takes to do a redesign as well as a re-engineer.

I''ve actually read some comments on other sites that people are disappointed that GM isn't offering other high performance models of the C7 right now...or they aren't mentioning them. Since when...other than in the fifties and sixties, did GM bring a brand new generation of Corvette to market and say..."here's the convertible, the Z06, the ZR1 and the Grand Sport models." They haven't. It's always been the coupe first, followed by a convertible, followed by higher performance models.

A lot of emphasis is being placed on spy photos and drawings based upon what people have supposedly seen. It's always fun to guess, but I''ve always tried to reserve judgement until I''ve actually seen the car in person.

Given the fact that GM is in the process of recovering from a bankruptcy and the state of the economy both in the near past and present, I'm just happy they didn't end up shelving the Corvette like they almost did around 1995(6).

My '84 is a good example of a first-year body and chassis change.

Only the small block with the Crossfire was a carry over, but the rest of the car was a total departure from the C3. And, it was only offered as a coupe withn the only options being the type of seats, the colors in one or two-tone, suspension package and a few other minor tweeks.

And the '84 had some issues, like the hard ride and lots of squeeks and rattles. The Crossfire has been very good to me, but in '85 a better induction system was finalized and replaced it.

Corvette may intend to do the same and allow for teething pains in the introductory year before moving ahead with upscale packages.
