my 72 with 350 runs consistently at 210 degrees on guage is that t high? thanks

Yes. My '72 rarely ran over 185-190 unless I had the A/C blasting in heavy traffic or was running at 75-80 mph for any length of time. Do you know what temp rating thermostat you have installed? If not, a good flush of the system may be in order. Also possible the thermostat is stuck closed or at lest not functioning correctly. A new thermo is a cheap investment. Consider replacing with a new 190. And don't forget the new gasket too.
