Just wanted to chime in from the "downstate" IL area. Hope you're thinking about heading to Funfest (Mid-America) in Effingham in September. The small-town charm really shines through here - it's quite a bit different than Bloomington Gold, but just as fun!

A trip to Chicago from Mattoon takes me about 2.5 hrs - it's about 185 miles straight up I-57. I imagine it would be about 3 to 3.5 hrs for you since there's no direct routes coming out of Dekalb to here (you might try Mapblast.com for the quickest path). Once you get to Mattoon, you'll have about 28 miles of almost solid Vette traffic to guide you to Effingham!

Hey Dude,
Your not the only one from Illinois.
I Currently live near Starved Rock State Park in Utica.
Work in downtown Chicago (Yes, I commute)
Grew up and graduated in Bolingbrook
Camped as a kid in Norway at Wilderness Campground, near
"Chucky's".
My Step-Daughter's father lives near Sandwich,
and finally, I have a sister living in Oswego.

How's that for Home Town Flavor.
