Can a 350 aluminum block handle just as well as a cast iron block?

And whats the gains besides weight and heat extracting quicker?

It will do a good job of draining your wallet. You can buy a good used LS motor for less than what an aluminum block will cost.

Food for thought here. If handling is your goal an iron block wither it be SBC, LTx, or LSx is best with a C4. Why, because the cars suspension is setup for that weight up front. You go messing around changing weight distribution WITHOUT making adjustments to keep it even, COULD effect handling.

I say this meaning all out handling like at a race track at the limit. On the street you will probably not notice the difference even with skewed weight distribution.

No benefit in spending LARGE to save 50 lbs in a car that weighs as much as a C4 thats still got an interior. These things are heavy, that chunk of aluminum is only going to save a very few lbs and on a street car its TOO easy just to add a few more HP to end up with the exact same power/weight ratio.

Aluminum block...
no benefits in power or performance. Could be some hard lessons too..

Weight...lots of ways to loose some weight. Heat...thats easy. Go buy a good all aluminum radiator and increase the heat exchange value and that will do more.
