350 engine ID - help!

I am trying to figure out what I have for an engine. I know it's a GM 350 because of the block casting number (GM3970010). Not origional. But it is obviousely a redo because the id / vin numbers on the front of the casting are not standard.

Can anyone recognize?
Front pas side; 3C686
K0 918 TJC

Check out this site, it give lots of Chevy engine and head casting numbers for various years.

An 0010 block can be anyone of several displacements, not just 350 cu .in.

As pointed out on another Corvette web site, TJC means it is a truck engine from 1973. The K0918 means it was built in St. Catherines Ontario on September 18th.

The casting date from the rear of the block would help narrow it down a little further.

the real mystery is the 3C686 stamped where the vin number normally is. Any leads from that number could be interesting as to who did the rebuild - I think.

The "TJC" suffix was only used in '73 and '74, for a 350 4-barrel 165hp truck engine; I expect the "3C686" is a rebuilder's ID code - it's not a VIN derivative.

...ooh, ouch! :ugh

If the block is in good shape this would be an excellent engine to rebuild into a hot 383. Truck block should be 4 bolt mains. Same with TargetMasters, basicly a truck engine. Good seasoned castings are getting harder to come by.
