Check out my Performer RPM intake and my E-bay LT-1 Valve covers, also the aluminum edelbrock water pump. The aluminum on the intake and water pump has all been clear coated.:bang :D :D

Nice!!

When are you planning on dropping this sucker in?

She is looking great!

Did you give any thought to painting the block the same color as the car? Just curious.

I cant remember, did you build that or buy it? Looks great. I would like to get a breakdown on what you have. I plan on a 383 build or buy in the next year or so.

sscam69- probably in 3-4 weeks.

Chris- I thought about the matching red but decided on Chev orange to look more like the LT-1(sort of ).

hijinx- its a 383 stroker, all forged balanced crank, rods, and pistons. AFR195 heads, Retro roller - HR-284-2S-12 IG- Crane sm base circle cam. Performer RPM intake, Q-jet carb, MSD ignition with billet distributor w/tach drive, coated dynomax headers, x pipe, 3" dynomax super turbo mufflers, hi torque starter, shift kit for TH400, 2500 stall converter. If you need any more details i'll be glad to share any info I have. Fred.

You should consider adding an extra weekend so that you can spend some major quality time cleaning, detailing and prepping the engine bay. I hate to see nice sharks with nice motors with ugly flat black, dirty cracked, worn through wires and cables, nasty old firewalls and inner fenders.

Here is a quick throught (we just did this to TZracer's 71). Go to the local automotive paint supply store. Get a body shultz gun (about $20) and a kit of truck bed liner spray in black ($50-$75). Come back home and take a pack of scotch brite pads and mineral spirits and scrub that inner bay day clean. Pull back the wire harness and vacuum hoses, and remove anything you can from the firewall and inner fenders.

Spray the super cool, textured, shinny, gas/oil/scratch, resistant liner on the firewall and inner fenders. Let that dry then put the different things back in place. Go to the store and get a bundle of the new wire loom. Re-wrap all your wires in fresh loom wrap so they are bright, clean, and new looking.

THEN.....drop the hot motor in.

Chris, These are photo's of my engine bay. What do you think?

that is a nice clean motor. I like the attention to detail with the covers on the exhaust ports, water neck, distributor & carb.

Well, it looks nice and "stock". However, the wire harnesses could really use some attention and you could really detail much of that up to look more fresh and modern.

Then again, if you are going for the overall "stock" look, then what you have is very nice.

If you want to see how nice and fresh the bed liner spray looks, contact Dave Bacher (TZracer) or see if he has uploaded any pics to his site where I recently did his engine bay

Chris, I'm putting in a MSD billet dist W/tach drive, MSD 6AL,chrome coil, and MSD red wires with "over the valve cover holders" for the oversize wires.(technically the wires run just below the valve covers and above the headers, uses the valve cover screws to hold the wire holder). I'll do more photo's as I progress. I'll put wires on before engine goes in the car. As the EXCITEMENT builds!!!! :bang :grinshot :Twist Fred

Fred,
is that bad motha breathing fire yet?? so close, try not to cut any corners now, i know it tempting. hope things are still moving along nicely, Brian

Brian, I wasn't able to take the old engine out or get started last weekend... I ended up having to work over the weekend. Hopefully this weekend!!! I'm ready ASAP!!! Bolted up headers to check the fit, Gosh they seem short. I guess a vette uses a shorter set than a chevelle or camaro. They still look good. Fred
