In case you haven't seen one out of the car........

This the 4+3 on a bench, separated into the 'four' and the 'three'. The long shaft extending from the right (+3) unit is the reverse gear idler shaft.

To WhalePirot :Sorry for curiousness . In which way your 4+3 strengthened ? What did you do ?

replied by e-mail, but briefly:

-changed to close ratio gears--> supposedly adds 100 ft.lbs. to the torque limit. The stockers were all hairline cracked and showed quite a lot of wear-through of the case hardening. This, with a mostly stock L-83, not driven all that hard; running AMSOIL synthetic gear lube.

-had 5speeds.com rebuild the +3. Paul claimed the Callaways were built by them and I'd not break this unit. He also said that the Super T-10's 1st gear is the weakest link in this unit. Much of the talk on CAC indicates otherwise.
