I have been in FLA for the past 6 weeks or so and need a new front bearing retainer for my M21. So I called the Gearzone(www.Gearzone.net) down in Tequesta and Paul said to come on over and pick it up. Well this was my lucky day since I got a tour of the "backroom" and all the work they do there. I also got to look at an engineering drawing of the 5 speed. Amazingly the case size is identical. I had no idea that Paul and Terry were involved in the developement of this transmission as well as the new M22's and cases and midplates and gears.

Anyway, these guys have 1 new customer for sure. The workmanship and cleanliness of this operation really impressed me. Paul showed me some of the meticulous detail that goes into making these transmissions live a long life. He had a road race T-5 crashbox, as well as one of the new M22's apart to look at as well. Those Masiero gears look incredible too. I have been really anxious to get an overdrive in my car but after seeing what is coming with this new Muncie I am definitely going to wait. It will be a bolt in without any driveline angle problems as well. Just thought I would update everyone. The only bad news is that this probably won't be out until the end of the year, but they are determined to get it right before release. Thanks for the tour Paul.

I guess only time will tell Norval but if they resemble the new M22 I saw then they will be a very viable alternative.

Hey Bill. Would really be interested in this 5 speed, BUT the time frame doesn't fit my plans. Got to have something for the 55 "TLB" by April. Puting in a new 502, and want a 5 speed..............Will keep you posted. JCL

BVO,
Thanks for sharing this info. I have been toying with the idea of a 5 or 6 speed in my '73 for a few years but the idea of extensive mod's didn't appeal to me. This may be the perfect alternative if it is, in fact, a direct bolt-in.

thanks

I also believe they sponsor us here at CAC. It's worth the look, I posted quite a while ago about my dealings with them and the products they sell, check out some of my past posts.
