Is anybody else aware of these unique '53 retro Vettes? I'm surprised that there has been no discussion among the forum members. www.50thcommemorative.com
These were a pretty big deal two years ago during the 50th celebration. They were in attendance at the many 50th functions such as Monterey, Camarillo, etc. I don't know how many were sold but the workmanship was very good and the design was very smooth and flowing. A really attractive car that melded the 53 and C5 designs and had the performance of the C5. After the 50th celebrations died down, they sort of lost that wow appeal. If you could find one at a discount price, it would be something to hold on to.

they just sold VIN #100 and have orders in progress for another thirteen or so

I just read about them in the latest Corvette magazine and thought it was something new. Duh........now that I think about it and see the responses to my post, they have been building them for some time now. Anyhow, I think I'm going to make one of those my next "Vette Goal". Think pewter would look good?
Anybody have a ratty/scarfed C5 they want to part with?

Those suckers go for big bucks. There was a guy, from Illinois I believe, at the 50th Celebration in Bowling Green that had created his own. He saw a magazine article about the 5oth Commemorative, pulled his C5 into the back yard---not a shop--and went at it. Started it 3-4 weeks before the Celebration and had the body work done! His wasn't painted, still in black primer, but overall the car looked as good as the big bucks Commemorative. His homemade 53/03 sure attracted a lot of attention. I'd like to ee a photo if he finished it.

Yeah, I asked the guy who makes them if he would just sell me a front and rear clip. Got a big NO. He wants to protect his company from hacks that might try to pass a bootlegged version off as original. I think a really cool version might be that of a '62 or '57. For some reason the "rocket" tail lights on the '53 leave me a little cold.
You're correct about the big bucks, Steve told me that they require a pristine C5 donor car and it's 34k+ from there. A guy could have 65k wrapped up in a quick.
Just for Sh*ts and giggles, sound off about what year you think would be a good version of this car.

Always thought the '58 was the ultimate early Vette with all the 50s chrome.

I'd rather have the real thing that rolled out of Bowling Green.

I've seen pictures of those posted on different forums. They look cool but I would only want to do that to a C5 total!

I agree with you!
