Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there are any differences between the '57 rear clip and the '59, with the exception of the taillights and the reflectors below them?

Thanks,

CHEV66JB

One major difference is in the rear bumper mountings. The '57's small bumpers mounted to the fiberglass just around the exhaust outlet and had a seperate center bumper. The '59 bumpers mounted on brackets that attached to the frame. This required big square holes with seals for the brackets to pass through. the '59 bumpers also attached at the outer end through a hole further forward on the side of the quarter panel. The body seam lip wasn't finished on the '59 since the bumper covered it also. I can think of a few other things too but it would be hard to use one on the other unless you are a good glass man.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for your reply- When I look at the pic I have, I am seeing the square holes you described. If I were to email you the pic, would you mind giving me your thoughts on the year?

Thanks,

Sure. I'll take a look. Send it here..

My email.

Tom

For anyone following this thread the rear clip in question is a '59-'60. A nice one too in 513 Frost Blue.
