When I am at low speeds and making easy shifts in first to second or second to third, I get a rattle almost like a heat shield noise. Any ideas? Could this be a clutch spring? Only 2000 miles on the car.:(

Not sure what a "heat shield noise" is but had a strange sound shifting between the same gears on my '00 about 2 months ago. I took it in to the Chev dealer and was told that there was a bulletin out on this. They ordered some parts and all is well since.

I have a similar noise from my 2001 6 spd. When i start off slow, in first gear there is a vibration....similar to a heat shield noise. I dont hear it after 1st gear. My car has 8000 miles on it. I havent had the time to take it to the dealer. I also hear the noise if i shut the car off in neutural, without depressing the clutch. If i depress the clutch and turn off the car, i dont hear the noise.

Welcome to the CAC!

This has been addressed before though I can't find the threads. According to the owner's video that comes with a new car, there is a noise that is normal. I was concerned as well, then I watched the video. The chief engineer of Corvette said it was a normal sound for the 6-speed tranny and not to worry.

If you can get a copy of the video it is very informative to watch.

Hope this helps.
