Anyone have any comments on the fit that should be expected where the body colored aluminium headlight covers meet the fiberglass body? I am starting to check the fit of my body components (doors, hood, trunk etc.) before paint and prime. While checking the headlight covers I was disappointed with the fit of the headlight bezels. I ran over to a shop where I knew there is a 62 Vette to check it out and this one was worse than mine. It is not a difficult task to improve the fit but I am just curious how well they fit from the factory and if anyone has any recommendations for dealing with this. Thanks all as usual.
PS: I really hope to meet some of you sometime when my car is done as I know I owe quite a few beers... or other cold beverages to you all. :L

There isn't a fridge in the world large enough to pay all the beers I owe to Corvette guys.

Thanks for the help Studio!

3-4 months ago you sent me pics on how you performed the body lift on your 61'. I'd like to thank you for sending me those pics. I now have the body off my 61' and have it on a dolly that I made. I am starting to clean up and dis-assemble the frame to get it ready to paint with Por-15. I did take some digital pics but am having trouble getting them on the site. As far as the headlight fit I can't help with that. Thanks, Larry

Overall fit on mine is decent but not great. Didnt do anything to improve it. The only work on the headlight rings was to take out the dimple where they had been overtightened. This isnt the best pic but gives you an idea of what another looks like.

Hi Larry, Glad to hear you are making good progress. I was wondering how you were doing. Would love to see the pics if you figure it out.

Thanks much for the picture. Yours look very good. Love the color too. Awesome car.

Studiodog,

I presume you are talking about where the chrome piece on top of the bezels meet the windsplit moldings on the fender tops. This fit is always poor, and a good fit at this junction will usually be cause for a points deduct at judging. The headlight bezels themselves should fit the body almost pefectly, and if not, I would work the fenders until they do. If there is going to be no judging in your future, than you can make the joint at the windsplits almost perfect as well.
I only spent about an hour to get the fit real nice on my 59 project.
Regards, John McGraw
