61 Rear License plate reinforcement plate

Does anyone know what color the rear license plate reinforcement plate is that the license plate attaches to. I don't know whether to paint it black or body color. Thanks for any help.

Thanks Ray, but what do you mean by "dip painted"? :confused

It was easier for the general to dip it in paint, than spray.
Think of an easier cheaper way and thay did it like that.
