My shifter opening in the transmission tunnel was excessively cut so a Hurst shifter could be installed. I have repaired the tunnel and fiberglassed up the entire hole to make a good repair. I now need to recut the hole for the shifter. Can I use the shifter console plate as a template to cut out the proper hole or is the shifter hole smaller than the console plate opening? Thanks for any help.

61 shifter

Hi! Stuidog

If the information you need is not what you were looking for from the Mailman, let me know and I will remove my shifter plate and take notes, measurements and pictures for you. I know that the transmission tunnel has not been altered on this 61.

Thanks all for the help and the offers of help. You guys are the best!. Larry (IH2lose) is going to send me a template as his new 62 project car (which he picks up tomorrow) apparently has the console plate and shifter already removed.

I saw Larry tonight ,first one from CAC that I have met. He should be heading
east on the 90 right now with the 62 on his trailer. The car he bought was
only 5 min from my house , I think he got a good car for his project.
When I re read your post I see that you fiberglassed the entire hole
and require more than just the size of the hole.

Roy
Hi Roy, Yeah I need a reference point for the shifter hole. I asked Larry to outline the ash tray opening so I can register off of that. Larry's car looks great! Nice way to start.
