In the process of stripping the paint from my car. I found the number 47 on the fiberglass panel behind passenger seat of my 61 after removing the paint. I looks like it was written with a green China Marker. I was expecting to find the original body color written there. Does anyone know what the 47 means if anything?
Thanks for any replies.

Are you sure it isn't "HT", which, if I'm remembering correctly, would designate that the car was to receive a hardtop.

I am pretty sure that they are numbers and not letters but I will check again when I get home tonight. Thanks

Could be the factory job number which was written in grease pencil on various parts of the car to identify where they were all to come together. You should be able to find the same number in the trunk area, hood, engine compartment, and somewhere on the frame. I don't think there was any particular place specified for the number but it should be in several places.

Numbers

Hi!

I found production numbers on the rear bulkhead, trunk area behind the passenger seat and inside of both doors on my 61. The original color, SILVER, was also written in grease pencil on the bulkhead directly behind the passenger seat.

What color was the grease pencil? Was it green by any chance?
