Help! 62 gas gauge shows correct fuel level only when brake is applied.

My 62 shows the correct fuel level only when the brake is applied and ignition on. otherwise it is about 1/3 of a tank off. Has any one experienced this problem? any suggestions whether this is a bad ground or sending unit. thanks vinny

Sounds like a ground problem to me. You are creating a good ground when you apply the brake and close the brake light switch. Are you having any other problems like one tail light going out when you hit the brakes?

It could just be the connection at the sending unit or it could be other grounds on the harness.
