The clock in my 63 vette does not work. Searching the web, I know I can buy a quartz conversion kit. The question is: Does my current electric clock not work because of a burned out motor or drive and, if so, does the Quartz conversion allow it to begin working again?
I've confirmed power to the clock. Do I need to replace an electrical part and do the Quartz conversion, or will the quartz conversion kit accomplish both?

Thanks in advance for your help.

If your clock is original, it's electro-mechanical; a set of points triggers a solenoid that winds it every few minutes. 99% of the time, they quit because the points get corroded, and the winding solenoid doesn't work any more. If you send it out to an outfit like The Clock Works (www.clockwks.com), they can either repair it or replace the mechanical movement with a new one, or they can install a quartz electronic conversion movement which will be trouble-free. The downside of the quartz conversion is that it will result in a 25-point deduction in judging; if you're not into judging, it doesn't matter. :)
