I wonder if I could get a favor? I would like to know the height of your coupes from the floor to the top of the roof or where the door meets the roof. I have the 63 setting next to a 65 and the 63 seems to set much lower. I know the suspension will need to be rebuilt, but I am curious to see how far it is off.

Thanks for any help!
Ray

Hello
The mid years are all the same height in body dimensions. The doors can be interchanged as well as other pieces from a dimensional standpoint. Before I got my 63 doors, I had 1965 doors on my car.
I can measure up my car if you want an actual dimension

Thanks, the 65 seems to ride much higher that the 63. I know that they changed the frame specks as far as body mounts, but I was curious if the 63 sat lower that the 65.

Thanks for any help!

Hello Ray
I thought the frames where the same for mounts in the mid years, but I cannot say for sure. If you measures the bottom of the frame to the bottom of the rocker on both cars at the same point, you will know for sure. The mounts are all at the same ht(plane) so the front is not lower than the back.
Ride ht. will probably be due to the springs. I think small block is 450 lbs for the front while the big block is around 550 lbs. If your springs are tired, that may also contribute to the difference. I am not able to tell you about a stock corvette as mine has been altered. I did weld my frame to the GM blueprints, so I can only speak of that.
Perhaps 63's had lighter springs than later years, but I do not know, so maybe someone else may be able to help you on this
take care
Tom

I know what you mean about bad weather, I am ready to transport the 65 to the paint shop and I am nervous about loading it in to the enclosed trailer. The ramp gets awfully slippery when you get snow on the tires. I am adding some expanded metal runners on the ramp this weekend. Can't wait till spring!

Thanks Ray

OK, this is what I did, I ran a yardstick across the roof outward over the center of the door that was open. Then with a tape measure I measured from the bottom of the plane (which gave me the highest peak of the roofline, but no on the body spine line) to the floor. I got approximately 51.25 inches. Now take into consideration I have the bias repro Firestone white walled tires that are approximately 1/2 inch (actually little less the .5 inches) higher then the originals because of the newer method making the tires per DOT regulations. So if you subtract that from it it should be about 49.5 inches again approximately...

One other note: these cars had 7 and 9 leaf springs, I have the 9 leaf. The springs on my car are OEM, and so is the leaf spring. As somebody mentioned ealier, springs can heighten or lower a car based on the tension of the spring.

Hope this helps you, your lucky because tomorrow the car goes back into the shop for the final few items on my list to complete....

Thanks Collin,

I measured mine this evening using a sprit level and had 49 1/2". It must be close. The 63s body just seems to sit lower that the 65.

Thanks Again!
Ray

Ray,

was real scientifc like Collin and I got about 49 1/2 inches - this after restoration of my 550 lb front springs, 7-leaf rear spring and FE07 shocks all around

Thanks for the information!

Ray

Thanks! Bob.
