63 sw

have a 63 split window, appears all original but the front running/parking lights are in the grill as opposed to the skirt. this car has been completed sanded and there are no obvious signs of the front end being replaced, has anyone seen a 63 with the running lights in the grill?????

Glassing over the pivoting headlights and/or removing the protrusions for the parking lights, and moving them into the grille area was a popular customizing treatment in the 60's; none left the factory that way.

thanks, thats good to know, does that have any adverse affect on the car or its value? all of the numbers match and when restoring it, the parking light holes appear to be factory stamped so who ever did it, did a great job

Assuming the rest of the car appears correctly-configured, it would have a MAJOR effect on the car's value to a buyer looking for originality, as it would be very costly to return it to the stock configuration (bodywork for new park lamp panels, paint, grille, etc.).

thanks. this is a very informative site. i am glad i found it.
the 63 is a great car, too bad about the running lights in the grill. the rest of the car is all original and is currently in the process of finishing restoration. too bad i didnt know about the lights before the paint dried. will post a pix once i figure out how to re-size it
