I bent my antenna and now have to replace it. I removed it and now am going to order one from CC. CC catalog, AIM and service manual all show a spacer between the ground plane and the body of the antenna. There is no spacer on my assembly and I cannot see where, why or how one could be used. The antenna appears to be the same as the one in the detailed picture on the CC website. Also the ground strap is installed exactly as shown in the CC catalog, the AIM and the service manual. There is no indication that the ground plane is grounded. I assume that it should be grounded, but how is it done. I have done a search and found a couple of posts( one by JohnZ in particular) that says it should be grounded. The CC catalog shows the 67 is grounded. My service manal seems to indicate that the ground plane was only added in 64. (for the FM??) Any advice and info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Bob

I just looked in the CC website at the spacer. It is made of metal so would provide contact from the support kit (which is grounded) to the ground plane. The spacer is missing on my car so will order it. All is well. Thank you.
I am adding this info just in case someone else runs into this problem. It turns out that the replacement antenna has a builtin spacer and it is plastic. The metal spacer that CC supplies is only for an original antenna. They don't tell you that. So if you order their replacement antenna, don't order the spacer. In order to ground the ground plane just run a short jumper from the antenna support bracket to the ground plane. Only way to do it unless you want to spend 300-500 for an original antenna. Regards, Bob
