64 motor compartment paint

Can anyone tell me if the motor compartment in a 64 is suppose to be gloss or semi gloss.The motor is out, have to paint it.Thanks Dual Quad

Neither - it's semi-flat, like an "eggshell" sheen; Krylon #1613 Semi-Flat, John Deere "Blitz Black", flattened black lacquer, etc.

I have used just about every available "semi-flat " paint on the market, and the best results I have ever obtained as far as coverage, ease of application, spray pattern, etc. was with " SEM Trim-Black " # 39143. It is a professional grade finish, relatively inexpensive, and can be found ( it's not a Wally-Mart thing ) at most of the auto-part stores.

Inner fenders, firewall, and under hood area, can be properly covered with two cans, and it will give a professional, like new finish to your parts.

As with all paints, a properly prepared, and cleaned surface, will do wonders to your project.
