i have a 65 nassau blue convertible, can't decide if i want to go with the cragar ss or torq thrust d wheels...15 or 16 inch?.....and while kicking it around...redlines or white letter tires?....anyone know of any great suppliers?...i'm in ohio and i'd like to pick up what i buy..thanks...fred

I prefer redlines over white letters on a C2.

Also, I like the look of 15" wheels on a C2.....but that's just me.

Fred,

If you want some "D's" cheap, I have 5 of them in my garage and I'm tored of looking at them. They are 15 x 7's and came off my '68. They need a good polish!

Blackwalls or redlines will look better on your car.

I've looked at both options. You can fit up to 17" x 7's. with a 4" back spacing but 3-1/2" is preferable. I like the 'New' Cragar SS's more than the TTII's. The new SS's are all alloy and are chrome. The TTII's are everythere and i'm sick of looking at them plus they always need polishing. Boyd Codington 'Smoothie's' are nice as well. Check out this link- https://www.newstalgiawheel.com/listproducts.asp?cat=10124. As far as tires I like blackwalls but the decision is ultimately yours. I can get dealer costs but I'm in Knoxville. Let me know if I can help.

Ok my advice if your looking for the nostalgic look

I would suggest torque thrust with the raised white lettered tires.Large/wide in the back and normal in the front and stay with the smaller diameter rim.(I wish I had saved a picture from one of the corvette forums of a car I seen this way looked right out of the seventies)

If you want the retro look then giant rims with wide tires but tiny height on them. (it seems alot of the C3 guys have them this way)

Allthought Iam building my car "factory correct" I always love a midyear with torque thrust rims.

I don't think any vettes ever did the 70's look and would look pretty bad on a midyear. The smaller width rims don't allow for 'really big' tires. I prefer the larger rims because i think they make the tires look larger by proportion and allow you to make the wheel well look more filled. That and the fact that you can use a lower profile tire and improve your handling. Fredd check out the new alloy Cragars. They look very different from the wheels pictured above and are much lighter, not to say that I don't like the classic SS style. On mine I'm trying to keep some of the 'peroid' look but I want to make improvements where ever I can.

Keep in mind that modern (post-1980s) Torq Thrust Ds will not clear the calipers. My 1967 has AR Torq Thrust IIs (model CL-205) with Pirelli 215-ZR70/15s. I chose the Pirellis based on a recommendation from Duke Williams over at the NCRS Technical Board.

hi sal...i'm finally getting around to getting wheels, either the 505 or 605 series...can you get either?...do you know the backspacing and offset i'd need?...do you know the 4 digits i need after the 505 or 605..every dealer around here is clueless, they tell me to buy them and hope they fit...that's crazy....right now, i'm leaning toward the 505's...i could make a quick trip to knoxville, no problem..i'm a fireman in ohio and get lots of time off and i like driving..also, do you deal in tires?...either going with bf goodrich radial ta or uniroyal tiger paws, white letters...thanks
