pulled the guage cluster to rebuild...but pulled the steering column first...the column works fine, no dragging or noises...i don't know any history of what's been done to it, so thought it would be a good time to tear it apart and rebuild, clean and lube bearings, or whatever is needed, and repaint...has anyone done it or have any directions to do it?....one thing i need to look at is the turn signal lever, it seems a little weak and doesn't return to center sometimes after a turn...thanks for any tips...come on warm weather, i want to drive this thing!!!

It sounds to me like the cancelling cam is tired (a nylon piece) or the springs are weak in the turn signal switch. You used to be able to buy any of these pieces seperately through your Chevy dealer. I don't know if the aftermarket sells individual pieces or not but the switch is available complete. That is the only way you will get the turn signal lever working like new again. I know that Paragon has them among others.
