I have been following rowingone's "64 emblem help" thread and see perhaps there was some "eyeballing" going on at GM when they installed the side fender flags. A while ago I was looking for the measurement for the positioning of the "Stingray" emblem for my 66. I received the measurements from corvettegreg and plan to install it accordingly. Like rowingone, I am really nervous about drilling holes, and would also like to receive a second opinion (maybe there was some eye balling going on with the stingray emblem also (which would be a relief). So... would some of you 66 owners mind measuring the location and we'll just see if there was any variance. Greg measured from the bottom edge of the Stingray bar to the front of the hood, and from side edge of the Stingray bar to the side edge of the hood. He got 1.5" from the bottom edge to front of the hood, and 2.625" to the side.

Anyone with a no hit have anything different? Also, if someone has a photo of the underside of the hood I would really appreciate it. I am thinking I have a 65 hood, I want to see if it looks the same as a 66 hood on the underside, and also see how the site looks where the emblem is located. Thanks a lot.

Strange emblem locations may be a clue to a panel replacement in the past; in the plant, they used a drill bushing fixture that located from the top ridge of the fender for up-down and from the door opening edge of the fender for fore-aft, then drilled the holes through the bushings in the fixture. My group supplied the fixtures.

I can take a photo of my hood tonight for you.

I have a freind who was so scaired to drill holes he took off the tabs and then double stick taped it into place.

Ill get photos tonight with a tape measure

Thanks, the photo will be helpful. Would also like to see the underside of a 65 hood if someone could post that.
