I went to the local auto parts dealer looking to obtain a PF25 oil filter and to my surprise the location was empty but a sign hung in it's place saying PF25 is no longer available and gave an AC Delco part referance for a filter that's not as deep, same money less filtration. Has anyone else run into problems obtaining PF25's?
:confused

PF25 replacement

PF25 was replaced by a different AC# but I wasn't aware it is made differently. I have several of both at work,I am going to compare them tomorrow.......interesting!

Replacement filter holds less oil

Hence less lubrication, and less filtration. Other than the depth of the filter they are the same. And if you over tighten the new filter it's more of a pain to work off due to the close proximity of the pre cat (at least in the good ole 1990 L98's).

Last of the round tail lights partner.......draw!

I actually never used the PF25 on my L98 motor. Go with the PF35. It's the same diameter but deeper than a standard PF25. Hey, every little bit helps.

Thanks alot ZR WON

I'm gonna have to test this filter on my next change. I agree that it's a help, more filtration is more filtration and until I'm adventurous enough to get into her like KEN, the PF35 will be my filter.

What a sweet ride KEN has, that motor is awesome. What a nice guy too.

Thanks again for the tip ZR!

Ken does have a nasty setup doesn't he? I love it :D

Mobil1 is what I use on my car. The only problem is that it's a $12 filter. A little pricey......but I hardly put any miles on my car so I dont' change the oil as frequent as some. I can't remember how much the K&N is.

Choices Choices

I never felt so helpless as when I was trying to decide, should I get the Fram filter or the other brand they had that was in the same $4 price range as the AC Delco filter. $12 is absorbedent but here is the question, how do you know the good filter from the marginal or not so good filter? I need to do some research on the net. God knows everything else can be had on the "world wide".

That PF35 sounds like my best friend for the moment, in fact I know they carry it, I compared not the PF35, but the PF24 to the replacement PF part for the new AC Delco filter and the rubber seal was not the same size on the PF24. I'll have to stock up on PF35's thanks again ZR!

And for me Ken is my hero, I dream of being able to make my car into a one of a kind machine to match the sentimental feelings I have for my L98.

My car is 13 years old, and it's such a good feeling jumping into the car for a ride. My daughter (who's 2 years old and know's a Chevy already) loves the vette so, she's got the bug almost as bad as I do. You got to love these cars. I do need to work on her though cause she's NUT'S about a Mazda, maybe it's the zoom - zoom - zoom marketing, you think?

Oh yeah, it's been my observation that in SoCal the wave is making a comeback, maybe it has 100% to do with me throwing my wave out nice and early.
