IH2LOSE said:Actually there is an HVAC part we could use for this and elimanate the sencors in the head, Its just a clamp on aquastat, its a honney well part that has a copper bulb we could slide into the radiator fins to sence the tempiture and it has a cut in temp (that would be our 195) and then it has a differential adjustable up to 150 degrees we would set the diif to 20 and that would be our cut out.so the fan would cut out at 175.
As long as thins unit could read the surface temp of the radiator it would work.
And actually if that fan would allow modulation (if you wanted to get real fancy) I can probably find one to carry the load ampreage of the fan and modulate the fan to high speed at 195 and ramp itself down to off at out diff setting . Cut in =Cut out less differential
Is this what you want to do.

By the time I next break down in VNV's driveway, I'll have a fix for my fans also.
Carry on.
As you were.
Please, continue.
Better than going to NAPA.

Simple question, Mark, have you thought about a lower temperature thermostat (i.e. 180*)?...:confused Because, even I know that as long as your T-stat is 195* or above, that is the temperature range you will run at (and you will never be at or below 175-180 except at cold start up/warm up)... The only way to get a temperature reading below that (at normal operating temps) is to have the sender installed at the outlet of the radiator...Viet Nam Vett said:Heh Denney,
I' am using something like you have pictured. Mine has an extra hole where I have a Temp gauge mounted.
The problem still remains... The Fan Senser is above the 195* Thernostat and only see's 195* Temps or above. So..trying to get the fans to turn off at 175 or 180* doen't work due to the fact that the thermo will try to maintain 195*
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhh..!! No cuepy Doll...!!
