Hey guys I don't really like the electric antenna and have bought the 67 mast and the radio to antenna cable. My real question is which grounding plate to use should I use the 66 or the 67 right now there isn't one installed so I can go either way. Also is there any other hardware that I may need???? Bubba put the correct power antenna in but didn't put the plate and I'm wondering what other hardware he may have left off... Dave..

I'd use the '67 plate, and don't forget the long copper ground strap from the edge of the plate down to the frame rail - that's what makes the plate work as a ground plane for the antenna.

I didn't know the plates were different in 66 than 67?? I installed a $20 asian unit (from JCWhitney) in my 66 plate (and car) - in order to have a fully collapsing antenna. It didn't make any difference in the installation - but the asian motor requires relays running the power from the switch. I got a couple from the junk yard for $5.

magic,
I am putting the straight mast non-collapsing antenna on the 66 I broke down while in Richmond today and just went to Zip and flipped a coin and got the 67 grounding plate since the mast is a 67. I'll let everyone know if I have any problems. It's just personal preference that I like the fixed mast 67 antenna I don't even know if anyone else has even thought about this.... Dave..
