67 wheel bearings

i just bought new front wheel bearings for both sides from a local parts store-bought federal mogal a6 and a2 bearings-i packed and set the preload but i still can get more than acceptable movement out of my bearings--
has any one had that same problem when using replacement bearings?--the inner land to the spindle seems a little bit oversized from the originals--may be i got bad bearings or may be the have made these a little bigger to fit more applications -if it is bad bearings stange it would be both sides?-strange-:confused

Please re exspain I dont under stand your problem? did you replace the entire outside bearing or re use the old race and just install the new bearing itself

wheel bearings

i replaced all 4 wheel bearings along with the races- when i was performing the frame off retoration--i did it about a year ago but am just finishing the car and went to align it with the pre load on the bearings set -there is still to much movement out of the hub-my friend and i ( he owns a front end shop) and ive worked on cars for 15years-we were both baffeled-spindles look good - when the bearing by itself is slid over the spindle there is up and down movement (clearance between the bearing cone and the spindle)--i didnt have it before-i was just changing them just because while doing the restoration.

Sounds like they sold you the wrong bearings - there shouldn't be any perceptible radial play between the inner bearing inner race and the spindle.
