Tom
One of these days... I want to go around the block in a certain '59. ;)

Bob the car looks outstanding.

Your going to have some people scratching there head when they see the car all buy it self (Not next to another vette) trying to figure out how you got the GIANT wheels under it. You know I almost want to build a C2 just to use that body widening kit.It just looks perfect, as if it came from the factory that way.

For sure you have to get the car done and get it in a magazine to share with others who are not on the internet.

As for the power of the motor,500 miles is a real long time to wait and I dont want to make it harder. But I have to tell you nothing is funner then being pinned in the seat and power shifting a big block at its redline. With the sound of your pipes in your ears I am sure it will add to the exspereance. (you have to remember I never like vette till I took a ride in a a big block coupe with pipes on it and then I was hooked)

So really when you think about it THE FUN HAS JUST BEGUN

ENJOY you worked hard for it

'HEAVEN, Nice photos! Fine examples of hard work & dreams carried out. I bet it's a trip to cruise both cars and see the looks on people's faces. Glad to see all teething problems are minor so far. The side by side shot almost looks like a chevy ad and would make a great wall-sized poster. Cruise in good health! Tom

This car "started" its life as a 427/435hp. Later, I moved it up to a L-71/L-88 hybrid and really had fun.........which is to say, I know exactly what you're talking about, Larry.

Although I'm getting slightly less peak horsepower out of the ZZ-502 (even accounting for the Hookers), the increase in torque and instant responsiveness at low rpms is amazing. Since I'll no longer race the car, a killer street engine is what I aimed for.

There's nothing like cubic inches, unless it's more cubic inches. :w

To feel and hear the power just cruising slowly around the neighborhood. SWWEEEEETT! You better increase your insurance cause I think a few neighbours got a touch of whiplash when their heads spun around so quick! Your ears perk up when you hear it coming but what a vision when you see it "Prowling" up the street. It looks so sharp coming and going.

Gonna be a spring to remember when this mean bear sticks its' head out the cave after hibernating for the winter! It was nice to see you get it on the road before the snow flies. Spring will be here before you know it! It's lookin just like you planned FANTASTIC. Way to go!:upthumbs .

Thanks again for the ride and you're right there is nothing quite like the BB experience and I can only begin to imagine the rides next spring after the "500" break-in is done! You better order more tires now.;)

Thanks again, cheers
:beer

PS: Sorry for drooling all over the front seat and passenger door but you should supply towels and BTW I almost dehydrated! ;LOL

Z28

after all this time with Bob's car and being on here, isn't time for you to pick up a Vette for your own and REALLY join in on the fun?
:)

Love to but have other obligations at the present (mortgage, food, gas, beer, kid at university, etc ) ;LOL . Waiting for my lottery numbers to win like everyone else. The Z28 is keeping us pretty happy and I have to admit I get almost as much enjoyment as Bob on his project. Everyone on the CAC and that I've been so lucky to meet through Bob, has been extremely friendly and not chased away this non-vette owner yet:L . It's a blast and with my great better half, the Z28, all these friends and the experience I've had on the '67 restoration, I've got everything I could ask for! A vette would be the icing on the cake though!;)
How's your car coming along?

Id consider letting ya keep her in my garage down here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for ya - That way she could be driven ALL Winter Long! :D

Seriously though, Congrats again - shes awfully purty!

get a smaller house, go on a diet, quit drinking beer and let the kid get a job to pay for his own school and you have your Vette!
;LOL ;LOL ;LOL

BABY is coming along VERY SLOWLY.
I saw her last Fri and not too much progress since the friday before - a bit more paint stripped off but that was about it. i'm resigned that this is going to talk a long time and not to expect to see her back in my garage until spring. Oh Well!

The cool part is that once we got the sidepipe covers off I noticed that when they did the body-off restoration before I bought it they went through a little more detail than I had know. With the covers off I can now see where they redid the numbers stenciling on the frame and other chalk hash marks. This wasn't possible to see with the sispipe covers in place but now I was able to at least get pics of it for my records

Sorry Bob and Barry
I should have asked about Baby outside Bob's posting. My apology. Barry, I'll send a PM.

Bob, it looks TERRIFIC! It looks mean and nasty, and refined at the same time - "tastefully outrageous" :D Enjoy!

Thank you, John.

There's only one other midyear that I've ever wanted more than mine, but you sold it. (hint.......blue......hand-built) :D

I didn't notice something about my car until I posted this photo...

I don't like the angle of the Hooker side-tubes -- heading uphill front-to-back. The old Kustom pipes didn't do this. I'm going to have to fashion some sort of rear hanger to drop the tubes down so that they sit level.

Then, I'll come up with some kind of trim piece to fill in between the front and rear fiberglass drop points -- just above and running parallel to the tubes. Rather than brushed aluminum, or whatever, I think I'll go with red or black.

Bob, it looks more beautiful every time I see it.

You fancy building me one? ;LOL

I used the production rocker molding that was used on sidepipe cars (bright upper portion, black lower, about 1-1/2" or 2" wide as I recall) on mine to fill that gap - worked great, covered the painted lower body edges.

The Gran Sport has always been a favorite of mine too bad the GM bean counters killed the project, a dream of mine has been to build a replica with a Guarte (sp?) aluminum small block and modern suspension under it.

Hey bob this would look great and if you wanted to keep with the paint color just paint the black red and keep the bright work exsposed
