Hi everyone . . .

Anyone know of a thread showing step by step removing a Muncie from a 68?? I know the shifter is a pain in the ass but haven't seen detailed removal on it. I just got the car in the air and did a visual inspection. There are several brackets attached in spots and ways I know will suck to remove!

Not so hard

Can't help with the thread, 'though if you search on my user name you might find something, but I have removed and rebuilt the Muncie in my '73. It was a few years ago but actually it wasn't that big of a job. The main thing to remember is that it's heavy! I found myself with about 80 pounds on my chest, so watch out for that.

When you come to install there is a trick that might help. Screw some studs into the end of the bellhousing and slide the 'box over that. That way you're not struggling to hold it in place while inserting bolts. Then replace with the proper bolts.

Incidentally, do you have the Muncie rebuild video? I found it invaluable.

Good luck!
