Hope someone can point me in the right direction. Sometimes when I open the throttle quickly on my 69 350/350, it just shuts down. I'm not experiencing typical Q-Jet hesitation, it's like someone turned off the key. This happens intermittently. I tuned it up last weekend.

Dwell - 30
New Plugs - .035

Timing - 4 deg BTDC with vacuum adv hose pulled and plugged. I've read contradictary specs on the timing. The owner's manual calls for 4 deg BTDC the Haynes manual calls for 8 deg? Any thoughts on that one???

Vacuum adv was leaking so it was replaced.
Idle holds true at 750 RPM
2 year old rebuilt carb
195 deg thermostat, gauge reads straight up 210 deg, per the owners manual. Never higher, or lower after warmed up.
Plugs looked great when pulled for replacement

The car runs great, really smooth. Most of the time.

Can I be getting a vapor lock?? This has been happening for a year or so. Both fuel filters were replaced when it started.

Suggestions???

Hesitation

Have you checked that the distributor ground strap is secured
or for that matter - attached at all.
I have seen people work on the darn thing and forget to attach it
causing hesitation at SOME speed.

Bang,

I don't recall seeing a distributer ground stap. Where is it supposed to be??

Thanks

2'nd filter

VG:
Only a guess but it sounds like maybe bad ignition switch...also, is your coil supplied power from connection at starter solenoid?. Next, can you take the second filter (not one in QJet) out of the loop. See if it might be a problem. Hope this helps.
