Will GM 359942 fit a 327 block built in 66.

I have a factory exchange block in my 64 which has a "small" oliplan attached and want to correct that into a 6qt.

Is there anything to pay attention to ? I want to use a on piece rubber gasket.

Its still early over here. I don't know the part numbers but as long as the dipstick is on the same side and you use the proper oil pump pick-up you should have no problem using the 6 qt pan.

Thanks,

.....the question is about if this is possibly a later model LT1 pan and if there is probably something to take care of mounting it to a 66 327 block.

I use a standard oilpump for a 327 SHP.

If it is a 92-96 LT1 it will not fit. If it is earlier LT1 it may fit,the pickup tube will have to be changed to suit the oil pan. You can tell by looking at where the round hump on the side of the pan for the dipstick is; as long as it is on the same side as your block it will work with the proper legnth pick-up tube.

Yes, the 359942 oil pan will work fine on your '66 block with no problem; however, be sure to get the one-piece gasket for the 1975-up application (Fel-Pro #34510-T, NOT the 34509-T) with the "thick" front seal, as that pan was manufactured after 1975 and has the larger front seal radius.

Thanks ! Will get the one piece seal....already planned to replace the old style gasket.

I have a 6qt pan on my 65. I tried to install a steering dampener...won't clear the front of the pan. I do not believe a p/s cylinder will fit either.

That's correct - neither will fit with the "6-quart" pan. :)

365HP didn't come with dampener or PS...as did early 340 HP and 375HP....

Mine doesn't have this girly stuff....:)
